NEW! Outdoor Portrait Painting

24 June, 2019 to 26 June, 2019

USD 475

St. Joseph's University Campus
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Students will sketch during the morning of the first day. The afternoon session will be spent laying in the portrait on the canvas with a limited palette. The second and third day, students paint directly with a full-color palette. Students are encouraged to consider composition with their portrait, and the instructor will emphasize strong drawing skills in regards to the gesture and proportions of the model. Outdoor light has its particular challenges, therefore how to adapt with changing light will be discussed. Students will be encouraged to use bold, but harmonious colors.
The instructor will paint alongside the students and offer daily individual critiques
