Hybrid Program – Florence Classical Arts Academy

Begin your artistic journey from the comfort of your home, mastering the basic fundamentals of classical painting and constructive drawing at your own pace from January through April 2025. The comprehensive online curriculum covers essential techniques and foundational skills necessary to prepare you for advanced studies. Throughout the online segment, FCAA’s experienced instructors provide weekly feedback and conduct monthly video calls to support and guide you.
After completing the online portion, join the academy in Florence for three months of intensive, hands-on in-studio training from May through July 2025. This segment focuses on more complex aspects of classical painting, including portrait drawing and painting, composition, anatomy, copying old masters and plein-air.
Upon successful completion of the Foundation Year Hybrid Program the students receive the Certificate in Visual Arts and are eligible for admission to the second year of the Three-Year Program (Diploma in Visual Arts).

Perfecting Realism in Portraiture Workshop

The ARC Approved Kline Academy of Fine Art is offering a unique 5 day Pixel Glazing Portrait workshop. Developed by acclaimed artist Lo Chan Peng, this original workshop teaches a multi-day system to capture the unique texture of skin in painting.
Pixel Glazing is a system that requires simultaneous consideration of different aspects of painting. Lo Chan Peng will guide students in understanding the basic principles of painting, such as 'hue,' 'chroma,' and 'value,' and the characteristics of oil painting materials, including transparent and opaque colors. Additionally, he will introduce the concept of the 'map' of the palette and how to 'bury' colors, explain the 'fishing net' painting method, and discuss strategies for completing a painting.
The workshop will run from Thursday, December 26th – Monday, December 30th, 2024 at the Kline Academy of Fine Art, 3264 Motor Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90034.

17th ARC Salon Finalists Announced

The Art Renewal Center is pleased to announce that we have posted our roster of finalists competing in the 17th International ARC Salon Competition. We received over 5,000 entries this year from 87 countries. Approximately 24%, 1,226 works have been selected as finalists. The roster consists of the artists' names, titles of works, categories the works qualified in, and the artists' nationalities. Winners will be posted on January 7th, 2025, when we announce the final results of the competition.

ARA Toronto Celebrates 5 Years of Change

The ARC Approved Academy of Realist Art Toronto has recently published an interview with Director and Senior Instructor Fernando Freitas discussing the major changes to their school over the past 5 years, including a new facility, more student resources and workshop offerings, as well as a wider variety of outside partnerships.
ARA Toronto will also be celebrating 20 years of teaching skill-based art.

Leighton and Landscape: Impressions from Nature

This first major exhibition of Frederic Leighton’s small landscape oil sketches, painted en plein air as he travelled, reveals the celebrated Victorian artist in a new light. Discover a spontaneous, experimental artist who took the road less well trodden by his contemporaries, documenting the places he encountered. Created between 1856 up until his death in 1896, many of these delicate artworks will be returning to Leighton's house for the first time over 120 years, including new acquisition Bay of Cádiz, Moonlight (1866).
This enlightening exhibition reveals a whole new side to the eminent painter.

Urban Larsson Studio Exhibition

ARC Associate Living Master Urban Larsson is holding an exhibition of recent oil paintings and drawings at his studio. A selection of still lifes, portraits, nudes, and landscapes will be available for purchase.
The studio is located at Prinsenieland 24 A2, 1013 LR, Amsterdam, Netherlands and open November 14-17, 2024 and November 22-24, 2024.

Rubens's Workshop

This exhibition features more than 30 works including paintings executed by Rubens himself, works by his assistants and others resulting from different degrees of collaboration between them. The chance to see these works side by side enables visitors to discern their different levels of quality.
Shown alongside these paintings is a recreation of Rubens’s workshop which includes all the tools he needed for his artistic activities: canvases and panels, easels, brushes, pigments and binders, palettes and mahlsticks, as well as various elements that evoke the painter himself, such as a cloak and hat inspired by portraits of him.
The exhibition runs from October 15, 2024 through February 16, 2025 at the Museo Nacional del Prado, Paseo del Prado, Madrid, Spain.

Odyssey: A 50 Year Artist's Journey: Not a Still Life

Over 25 pieces illustrating ARC Associate Living Master Charles Gilbert Kapsner's 50-year artistic journey will be on view at Studio Pintura Fine Art.
Kapsner is known for his diverse repertoire, particularly his thought-provoking, Vanitas-style still life paintings. His works include finely developed charcoal drawings, oil portraits, lush florals, poignant works of social commentary, and pieces honoring veterans’ service.
Studio Pintura is honored to present this curated show by an exceptional artist whose life, and body of work, has been anything but still.
