Manhattan Masters - Rembrandt and Friends from the Frick NYC
Published on December 21, 2022
Ten paintings from The Frick Collection in New York will be on display at the Mauritshuis. This will be a one-time opportunity to view this selection of paintings in Europe, which (with one exception) left the continent more than a hundred years ago and have been in the United States ever since.
One of the greatest masterpieces on view will be Rembrandt’s self-portrait from 1658. The painter immortalized himself many times, but many consider this self-portrait to be one of the very best. The founder of the The Frick Collection was the industrialist Henry Clay Frick (1849-1919), who also built the house where the present-day museum is located.
The exhibition runs from September 19, 2022 - January 15, 2023 at Mauritshuis, 29 Plein, Den Haag, 2511 CS, Netherlands.

New York Art Worlds, 1870–1890
Published on December 21, 2022
This exhibition explores aspects of the lived experience of being an artist in New York City during the 1870s and 1880s, an era of rapid socio-economic change. Drawing largely from the MET's American Wing’s varied collections, the display investigates the vibrant cosmopolitan and modern art world that emerged in the city during the post-Civil War years, laying the groundwork for today’s international cultural capital. Some fifty paintings, sculptures, works on paper, and decorative objects highlight late nineteenth-century aesthetic innovations and trends, as well as leading American artists’ roles as tastemakers, organizers, exhibitors, and collaborators. Among those represented are Cecilia Beaux, Thomas Eakins, Winslow Homer, Charles Ethan Porter, Augustus Saint-Gaudens, Louis Comfort Tiffany, and Candace Wheeler.
The exhibition runs from December 12, 2022 - October 29, 2023 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1000 5th Ave, NY NY 10028.

Guido Reni
Published on December 20, 2022
In his day, Reni was one of the most successful and celebrated painters in all of Europe, coveted by the most important patrons, including the Borghese Pope Paul V, the Duke of Mantua, and the Queen of England. Hardly appreciated in the nineteenth century due to other aesthetic preferences and later relegated to second place by the one-sided concentration on his temporary rival Caravaggio, he no longer holds the place he deserves in the public consciousness.
For the first time in over thirty years, the Städel Museum, in cooperation with the Museo Nacional del Prado in Madrid, is bringing together more than 130 of his fascinating paintings, drawings, and prints and thus offering a new perspective on Guido Reni.
The exhibition runs from November 23, 2022 to March 5, 2023 at the Städel Museum, 63 Schaumainkai, Frankfurt am Main, Germany, 60596.
