For America: Paintings from the National Academy of Design
Published on September 29, 2021
For America: Paintings from the National Academy of Design explores the ways in which artists have represented themselves and their country. This is the first exhibition to highlight the unique formation of the National Academy’s collection. Since its founding in 1825, the Academy has required all Academicians to donate a representative work to the Academy’s collection, and from 1839 to 1994, the Academy also required Associates to present a portrait of themselves, whether painted by their own hand or by that of a fellow artist. The exhibition is divided into five sections: Founding an American School, A New Internationalism, Painting America, Postwar Realisms, and For America. Well-known artists such as Thomas Eakins, Winslow Homer, William Merritt Chase, John Singer Sargent, Richard Estes, Lois Dodd, Andrew Wyeth, Maxfield Parrish, Cecilia Beaux, Wayne Thiebaud, and many others are featured. Comprised of 100 paintings created between 1809 and the present, the exhibition visually documents the history of American painting through the lens of the Academy.
The exhibition runs from July 3 - October 3, 2021 at the Crocker Museum 216 O Street, Sacramento, CA 95814.

Fine Art Connoisseur recently published an article by Peter Trippi about the International ARC Salon and the Contemporary Realism: Important 21st Century Works auction that was held at Sotheby's NY from July 16-26, 2021.
"July in New York City is generally hot and quiet, but this year it was perked up significantly — at least for those of us who love contemporary realist art — by an impressive display at Sotheby’s. On view were two large, interconnecting shows — highlights from the 15th International ARC Salon Exhibition, and lots offered in the Contemporary Realism: Important 21st Century Works auction, which was conducted entirely on sothebys.com."

By Her Hand Artemisia Gentileschi and Women Artists in Italy 1500-1800
Published on September 21, 2021
Women artists played a vibrant yet overlooked role in Italy around 1600. The first exhibition solely dedicated to Italian women artists at the Wadsworth, "By Her Hand" explores how important women artists succeeded in the male-dominated art world of the time. Artemisia Gentileschi (1593–after 1654), one of the most fascinating seventeenth-century Italian painters, will take center stage.
Beyond Gentileschi, the accomplishments of a diverse and dynamic group—from the court painter Sofonisba Anguissola (1532–1625), to the Venetian pastel artist Rosalba Carriera (1673-1757), among other talented and virtually unknown Italian women artists—will be introduced and celebrated.
The exhibition runs from September 30, 2021 - January 9, 2022 at the Wadsworth Atheneum, 600 Main St, Hartford, CT, 06103.

Southern Atelier Now Accepting Applications for the Miano Apprenticeship Program
Published on September 15, 2021
The Southern Atelier is proud to present their apprenticeship program under the direction of ARC Associate Living Master Charles Miano, designed as a 4-level program with a completely unique 2-fold course of study. In addition to traditional long term projects such as casts, master copies, portraits and figurative works, the apprenticeship curriculum highlights rigorous short, intermediate and long practice from the live model. This balanced approach develops hand eye coordination quickly and improves an artist's ability to see and capture life and movement dramatically while at the same time learning to finish works of art to the highest standards of excellence.
Spaces are limited to provide one-on-one instruction and detailed attention, so students can thrive in their study no matter their entry level. Throughout the apprenticeship program, students may also attend workshops at Southern Atelier given by visiting master artists from around the world.
The Miano Apprenticeship is broken into trimester terms, for $3800 per term. Apprentices may benefit from having their own individual work area, teaching opportunities, public gallery representation, and a key to the Atelier studio, located in luminous Sarasota, Florida. NordArt 2021
Published on September 3, 2021
ARC Living Master Ana Schmidt has been selected to exhibit two of her paintings, "This is not Graffiti" and "View from Window" at the International Art Exhibition NordArt 2021.
Few exhibition spaces express north Germany´s unique atmosphere so eloquently as the Carlshütte. A former iron foundry, which opened in 1827 and closed in 1997, this site in the town of Büdelsdorf is an impressive industrial monument, with its historical buildings, the colossal foundry halls and an extensive park. This site has developed over the years into a very special place for exhibitions.
Since 1999 the NordArt takes place annually in the summer months. More than 200 international artists, selected by a jury, present a comprehensive panorama of contemporary art. Each individual work not only speaks for itself but also creates new perspectives when seen juxtaposed against the backdrop offered by this industrial monument.
The exhibition runs from May 6 to September 10, 2021 at the Kunstwerk Carlshütte, Vorwerksallee, Büdelsdorf, 24782, Germany.
