$30,000 Awarded for 2010 - the 10th Anniversary of the ARC Scholarship Fund

November 18, 2010

$30,000 in Scholarships have been awarded by the ARC Scholarship fund for 2010, the 10th Anniversary of the ARC Scholarship Fund. Half of the funds come through the donations of many of our members and half through the continued financial support from the Morris and Alma Schapiro Fund. We very much appreciate their support for this year's scholarship recipients and look forward to working together in the future.

When the ARC Scholarship Program began, there were 13 ARC Approved Ateliers. With continued support, the number has climed to over 50 ateliers and schools on our ARC Atelier List. Prospective students may search the ARC Atelier Map so that prospective students can search for a school by location in the USA, Canada and Europe.Click here to read our 10th Anniverary Article.

Art World Event of the Century

Musee dOrsay buys five new paintings by William Bouguereau- shown here-LAssautFrance's foremost museum for 19th Century art, the Musée d'Orsay, has acquired five major paintings by William Adolphe Bouguereau (1825-1905), bringing the total to eight, which are to be hung in a permanent installation with the French Impressionists. William Bouguereau is, overwhelmingly, the most popular artist shown in the ARC Museum, and is increasingly seen in the eyes of art historians as possibly the most important artist of the 19th Century. He is one of a handful of the most important artists in all human history, that small club including such names as Michelangelo, Rembrandt and Caravaggio.

Bouguereau's poetic renderings of the psychology of youth married to impeccable technical perfection has raised the bar for all artists. He has become the artistic model worldwide for ateliers and thousands of classically trained artists who graduate from ARC Approved Schools every year.

The paintings to be added are:

Bouguereau Catalog Raissoné Email

November 1, 2010

Hi Mr. Ross, Thank you so very much! It is a gift for my husband (AND myself, of course!..) Regular Priority Mail is fine.... I appreciate your taking the time to answer my query... I can't wait to see this gorgeous work you worked so diligently on... I will certainly read your introduction first! By all means! YOU, Sir, have changed art history in the MOST extraordinary way concerning Bouguereau! Cheers to YOU, Mr. Ross! Have a fabulous day! Kim ----------------- The William Bouguereau Catalog Raissonés we expect 70 to 75% sold out by the end of this month. Orders are flying out the door. We know with near certainty that the aftermarket for them will be far stronger than the aftermarket was for the catalog for the 1984 Bouguereau Retrospective. They steadily increased in value to where they were selling for $1,300 to $1,500 for the English version and $600 for the French. That book was soft cover and sold for $45 when it was new. To place your orders now click here.
