Chronicles of Solitude: Masterworks by Vilhelm Hammershøi from SMK - The National Gallery of Denmark
August 23, 2016
This exhibition marks the 100th death anniversary of one of Denmark's most distinguished Symbolist painters. | |
Employing a strict palette of colors, Hammershøi depicted the interior of his apartment at Strandgade 30, Copenhagen, and the streets of the Danish capital, as devoid of life. Also shown at the exhibition will be the works of Franz von Stuck, illuminating the larger European context in which Hammershøi worked. | ![]() |
The exhibit runs from now through September 25, 2016 and takes place at Frye Art Museum - 704 Terry Avenue, Seattle, WA, 98104. To learn more about this and other events, please click here. |
