Jacques-Louis David's Napoleon

July 28, 2016

The Art Institute of Chicago has been loaned the painting "The Emperor Napoleon in His Study at the Tuileries" by Jacques-Louis David from the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. Related paintings, works on paper, and sculpture in the Art Institute’s own collection will also be on display. A rarely exhibited sketchbook of studies for another renowned Napoleonic painting by David, "The Distribution of the Eagle Standards", will be displayed near an interactive digital reconstruction that allows visitors to turn the book’s pages.

The exhibition runs now through October 9, 2016 at the Art Institute of Chicago, 111 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago IL.
