THE WREN BUILDING, COLLEGE OF WILLIAM & MARY - oil on canvas (36 in. x 24 in.) by Gulay Berryman

The Wren Building, named after famed architect Sir Christopher Wren, is the oldest college building in the United States, dating back to before 1700. It is the iconic landmark structure of the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. I looked at and studied the Wren Building for a long time before deciding on this particular composition which depicts it during an early-Autumn morning.  I then worked on this painting on and off for about six months before I felt it was complete.
