Valentine Aprile

United States

b. 1972
American
New York, NY USA

Valentine Aprile is an artist of Indigenous Mexican and European descent. Her visual work, supported by a background in performance, displays an acute understanding of visual story telling, movement, and the expressive capabilities of the body and portrait. She creates psychological portals marrying abstraction and life study by using both traditional techniques and intuitive improvisation. Overall, these slightly ambiguous yet not so comfortable stories are told from the feminine perspective inspired by world events, observation of human behavior, and life experiences such as growth, love, justice, and survival..most often searching for hope and connectedness. Publications include American Art Collector, Linea via The Art Students League of New York, and Create! Magazine. She has shown nationally in galleries, and has performed nationally and internationally. Thus far, Ms Aprile has won varied local arts awards for her work in painting, dance-theater, and most recently in film.
