I was born into a family of artists, my parents having met while attending the Art Institute of Chicago. My two brothers, a niece, and two cousins are all professional artists along with one of my sisters who is a part-time professional. My specialty is painting portraits which I have been doing for about 45 years. I was trained mainly by my father, illustrator, historical painter, and portrait painter James E. Seward. My portraits are a little unconventional, as I often emplhasize pertinent background material around my subjects, almost in an illustrative way. As an aside, I happen to be a nationally ranked Chess Master.
