Stephanie Deshpande is a representational painter living in northern New Jersey. She is best known for her psychological portraits and narrative paintings. Her work combines her love of realism with personal observations. She creates paintings that unearth hidden emotions and capture the quiet drama of the world around her.

Deshpande completed a BFA with honors in painting at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She was awarded the Ellen Battell Stoeckel Fellowship to attend the Yale Summer School of Music and Art in 2006, and continued her studies at the New York Academy of Art earning her MFA. She enjoys teaching, and offers online classes and workshops.

Deshpande has received recognition for her paintings by, RayMar Art, Artist’s Magazine, the Art Renewal Center, Allied Artists of America, and Oil Painters of America and the Portrait Society of America where she is considered a Signature member. Her work has been written about in the book Contemporary Great Masters of Portrait Painting by the editorial staff of The Art of Watercolour and in 21st Century Figurative Art: The Resurrection of Art by Jan Esmann. In 2014, the New Britain Museum of American Art acquired her painting “Assembling the Pieces” for their Post Contemporary collection. She is represented by Arundel Contemporary in West Sussex, England.
