Sandra Bartels

Netherlands

After studying design at the Graphic Lyceum in Utrecht, I worked in advertising as a designer/desktop publisher for many years. In 2016, I started drawing in a realistic way with pastels. I am self-taught and continue to develop my pastel technique. My inspiration mostly comes from nature and animals. Capturing the personality and expression of an animal is especially important to me.  I entered my wildlife drawings into the ‘Wildlife Artist of the Year’ competition hosted by the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation and became a finalist in 2019/2020/2021. In 2021 I participated the American Art Awards and won a 3rd and 4th place, categorie ‘Realism Animal’. And became a finalist at the Richeson75 competition, categorie Animals, Birds & Wildlife 2021. I also participated in the ‘Natuurlijk Natuur’ exposition by Gallery Staphorsius.
