Born in India, Sandhyaa now calls Austin,Tx as her home since 2002. After receiving her B.F.A in commercial art from the College of Fine Art, Bangalore, India, she worked as a visualizer for few years. She also taught commercial art at the Institute of fine arts . Alongside she also painted and exhibited her works. Throughout she knew that her calling was to be a painter and she decided to return to her passion full time in 2000.
Her earlier works reflected the beauty of rural India. Though she was brought up in an urban setting, she also feels blessed to have experienced the country life thanks to her grandparents. She still misses her times spent at their farm every summer. Her representational landscape paintings are inspired by the raw natural beauty surrounding her. It is the mutual interaction with the divine nature and the emotional connection she feels with every scene she paints. Her immense regard for the rapidly disappearing natural landscape, strengthens her intent to freeze it all on her canvas and hopes that this pristine beauty is preserved forever. She hopes her viewers can step inside her world through her landscapes and find their own meaningful place. She feels mightily blessed to be doing what she loves to do the most and hopes to continue this till her end.
Sandhyaa is a Signature Member of the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society, an Associate Member of the Oil Painters Of America, Women Artists Of The West, Austin Visual Arts Association, American Impressionist Society and the Plein Air Painters of Austin.
