Marco Campos

Costa Rica

Marco Campos (b. 1978) is a contemporary figurative painter from Costa Rica, who works primarily in oil painting, watercolor, and charcoal, among other mediums.

After graduating in Graphic Design from Veritas University, he worked in advertising, video production, and digital animation for more than 20 years. Recently, he decided to follow his long-held aspiration of becoming a full-time artist and has already started gaining international recognition and awards in several competitions.

He pursues a contemporary realism achieved mainly by tonal values and slight shifts of hues, always trying to maintain a fine balance between careful details and looser brushstrokes. Marco’s art is inspired by the works of the Old Masters and is also notable for evoking strong emotions such as nostalgia, calmness, and sadness.

He is currently a member of the International Guild of Realism, the Portrait Society of America, and the Association of Figurative Painters of Costa Rica. In 2022, he was selected as a juror for this prestigious Costa Rican association.

Recently, the International Guild of Realism awarded Marco’s work with the Best of Show award at their annual exhibition.
