Marcia Ballowe was born in Washington state and raised in Montana. She studied Math in College and then switched to Architecture. She can't remember a time when she wasn't drawing. Growing up with an appreciation for landscapes, she found herself drawn to the early morning or evening light enveloping the land, water and surrounding snow capped mountains.
Marcia first participated in the C.M. Russell Auction and Quick Draw in 1985. Her paintings have been juried into several national shows. She has exhibited at the annual art show at the Heritage Inn in Great Falls since 1985. She paints "En Plein Air" and uses the studies to create larger studio pieces.
She is a member of the Montana Professional Artists Association, and Montana Painters Alliance, Pastel Society of the West Coast, and NOAPS. Her work is represented in several Montana galleries and in shows around the country.
Recently she was awarded 1st place in the NOAPS BOA 31st Plein Air Competition in Montana and 1st place in Dakota Pastels artist of the quarter in early 2022.
Marcia paints in Oils, Watercolors, Acrylics and Soft Pastels.
