I can't breathe unless I create. I started using watercolors to paint large scale flowers. Then slowly, I taught myself to paint with oils.  I painted abstract paintings, focusing on composition and color expression.  Eventually, I couldn't paint one more abstract.  Normally, artists start with instruction, learning to draw and paint in a precise manner and loosen up over time. Perhaps even finishing careers painting in a loose and abstract manner.  Inverting that path, I decided to learn to draw and paint portraits after long years of pure expressionism.  I was fortunate enough to study a few years in a mentorship with Casey Childs. Since then, in a few short years, I have worked on technique and coupled it with my early explorations in abstract compositions.  Each portrait designed to show a subtle side of human nature and our shared experince living this beautiful thing called life.
