Lee Alban is a nationally recognized realist oil painter, represented by galleries across the nation. Expressing a diversity of interests, his work has earned awards for still life, figurative, portraiture, floral, European landscape, western, interiors, railroad, and historical narratives.
Lee is a graduate of the Schuler School of Fine Arts and uses traditional methods of preparing his own mediums and grinding paint from powdered pigments
He is designated as an Assoc. Living master by the prestigious Art Renewal Center. He has been awarded signature memberships by the Oil Painters of America and National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society. Lee has also been granted Elected Artist status by the Allied Artists of America and the American Artists Professional League. Other memberships include the International Guild of Realism, American Plains Artists, American Society of Railway Artists, and Center for Railway Photography and Art.
His figurative paintings have been acquired by educational institutions, corporations, private museums, and women's manufacturers. He has painted Navajo natives, including four generations of one family living in Monument Valley, Utah. His work includes the largest contemporary historical series of western oil exploration.
Lee’s paintings have been published numerous times in major art magazines and has earned more than 50 national awards including the Excellence in Still Life Award (Oil Painters of America National Exhibition), Gold Medal of Honor (Allied Artists of America Annual Exhibition), First Place (National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society Signature and Master Exhibition), Best Landscape (International Guild of
Realism), Award of Merit (American Artists Professional League), Best of Show (Art of the Heartland National Exhibition) Best Seascape (Allied Artists of America Annual Exhibition).
Lee has been honored to serve as a judge for NOAPS, IGOR, OPA, and other organizations.
