Artist Statement

I woke up literally and figurative, one morning in the fall of 1999, with a clear calling to become an artist. Although a little late to the party, I've committed myself to capture in paint, the magic of life with its longing, adventure and beauty.

Bio

Lawrence McAdams has committed himself over the last 20 years to capturing in paint the magic of life with its longing, adventure and beauty. He calls his work ‘Narrative Realism’. And as an avid surfer for over 50 years, the ocean figures strongly in his oeuvre.

Born and raised in Southern California, McAdams showed artistic promise at a young age but had no access until an art class as a high school senior. Larry majored in commercial art during college. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from CSULB.

It wasn’t until 1999, after a Seminar by John Eldridge, Author of, The Sacred Romance, that Larry realized he had unknowingly suppressed his artistic desires. He feels that he woke up one morning literally and figuratively in September of 1999 compelled to become an artist.

His paintings have been exhibited in galleries and cultural centers including The Laguna Art Museum in Laguna Beach, CA; the San Francisco Fine Art Fair; the George Billis Gallery in NY Sullivan Goss American Gallery in Santa Barbara and Art Basel in Miami Beach. McAdams’ work is in private and corporate collections, including Hurley International in Southern California.
