Krista Lee Johnson

Krista’s paintings showcase her exquisite technique and deeply expressive style. She studied with Richard Lack at his atelier in Minneapolis Mn., a time bound yet rare form of learning directly dating back to the great Ateliers of David and Gerome in the late 1800’s in Paris. She continues her life-long journey of learning with various workshops from respected artists, most recently with Rose Frantzen. She practices her craft twice weekly at a local model co-op, drawing and painting from the figure and painting portraits, a practice foundational to her craft.

Krista has been awarded multiple juried accolades, including the online show Lifting the Sky, with the American Women Artists in 2021, and “Her Story” at Manhattan Arts in New York City. In 2019 Krista was awarded the Staff Choice Award by the Art Renewal Center for her painting ‘The Boys.’ The painting was included in the 14th International ARC Salon and was exhibited in both Barcelona at the European Museum of Modern Art and Sotheby’s in New York City. Also in 2019 Krista’s paintings were part of a four person show at OPNVU Gallery in Minneapolis. In 2018, two of Krista’s paintings were finalists in the Portrait Society of America’s competition.

Most recently, Krista’s painting “Abrivado” was featured in the largest and most competitive state fair art exhibit in the United States, the Minnesota State Fair. She had a solo show at the Zeller Gallery, Minneapolis Mn, December of 2021thru the end of January 2022 .
