I am a fine artist trained in the methods and techniques of the old masters. My main painting interest is portraiture of people and animals. Incorporating my earlier training as a developmental psychologist, I create art in the realism tradition that embodies both my insights into people and my experiences as a feminist and minority. Themes such as struggle, loneliness, isolation, darkness, depression, anger, and hope underlie my work. Though I tend to focus on portraiture, I also enjoy and appreciate the challenges and beauty of landscape and still life painting.
