Joyful Enriquez (b1987) is a fine artist specializing in oil paintings of the underwater world. Her artistic style captures the essence of this unique environment’s beauty, movement, color, and light by using brushes and palette knives in an expressive, yet authentic approach.
As an avid Scuba Diver, gathering her own underwater references, and experiencing life beneath the surface continually inspire her artwork and motivate her to help preserve the aquatic environment through conservation efforts. Joyful is a distinguished member of the American Society of Marine Artists, The Society of Animal Artists, The Oil Painters of America, and The Ocean Artist’s Society.
Her work has garnered awards and accolades through both solo and group shows in museum and fine art galleries across the country, as well as in publications such as Southwest Art and Fine Art Connoisseur.
Recently her work has been featured in the American Society of Marine Artists 18th National Museum Exhibition Tour, the Coos Art Museum's 28th Maritime Exhibition, and the Society of Animal Artist’s 62nd Annual Exhibition. The Center for American Marine Art and the Mystic Seaport museum awarded her a grant to be the Artist-in-Residence for the summer of 2021 and 2022. This past year the Stobart Foundation awarded her an artistic grant to travel to Tonga in order to study, photograph, and swim with humpback whales. From this experience, Joyful plans to create and curate an original collection of whale-themed works for a future museum exhibition. Joyful is represented by several galleries including the Marine Art Gallery in Annapolis, MD, the Reinert Fine Art Gallery in Charleston, SC and the Holle Fine Art gallery in Maui, Hawaii. She currently is based in the Pacific Northwest with her husband, Sam and their dog, Neo.
