Jenny Stewart

United States

Jenny Stewart grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois and art has been a part of her life from very early on. Her mother, who is also an artist, encouraged her to begin oil painting classes when she was about 10 years old. After earning a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art, she then moved to Arizona where she began her career as a fine artist and as an art teacher. After an "intermission" in her art career, while her children were small, she is now back to creating.

Jenny strives to find the beauty in everyday ordinary objects that is so easily overlooked in our busy world. Color plays an important role in her work, but even more important, is the effect of light on her subject. She looks for areas where the long shadows form interesting shapes, the light glows thru the delicate flower petals or the distorted reflection appears on the metal bowl. She loves to enlarge the scale, until her subject is dramatic and larger than life.
