Jeanne Leemon

United States

Jeanne Crain Leemon was born in 1957 and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois.  She has lived in the Knoxville, Tennessee area since 1993.  Painting classical realism in oil and pastel,  her main focus is still-life and floral painting; however, Jeanne also paints figures, portraits, and landscapes.

Having a keen interest in drawing as a child, Jeanne later taught herself to paint by reading books and art magazines, observing art, and through much practice. She has also taken workshops over the years by accomplished artists.

A deep attraction to beauty and light informs her work. The process of building form through multiple layers of paint results in deep colors and rich textures, ultimately bringing the subject to life.  “What I strive to impart in my work is an appreciation for beauty in all things, and a feeling of peace and tranquility.  My paintings usually originate with something that I connect with and find beautiful, which I am compelled to express in paint.”

Jeanne is a Signature Member of American Women Artists, and a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America. In addition, she is a juried member of the Oil Painters of America and the International Guild of Realism. Other memberships include the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society and the Portrait Society of America.

Jeanne’s paintings have been accepted into numerous juried shows online and throughout the Southeastern United States, including four Oil Painters of America Eastern Regional Shows. She has received many awards for her work, including “Best Floral” from the International Guild of Realism in 2019, “The BoldBrush Award” from the BoldBrush Painting Competition in 2016, three “Awards of Excellence” from the National Oil & Acrylic Painters Society, and a “First Merit” from the Portrait Society of America.  Jeanne was also a “Finalist” in the 15th Art Renewal Center Salon 2020-2021.

Her work has also been featured in the American Art Collector magazine and the International Artist magazine.
