Izidor Tomaz Perko was born on November 2nd, 1947 in Ljubljana in the family of the Slovenian painter Lojze Perko. He studied painting at the Academy of fine arts in Ljubljana where he also did his post garduate studies in restoration and conservation. He first lived in Ljubljana and in 1981 moved to Lake Cerknica, famous worldwide for its intermittent character which represents to him an inexhaustible source of inspiration for his landscapes. He is considered the top portrait painter in Slovenia as he had painted portraits of most of the prominent dignitaries in Slovenia and beyond. He attended many art workshops and exhibited his paintings abroad, including the USA, Canada, China and all over Europe. He has won numerous awards and prizes.
