Galina Perova
United States
Galina Perova was born and raised in Russia where she received a comprehensive and rigorous art education. She graduated with an MFA with an emphasis on painting and a PhD in art history from the prestigious Repin Academy of Art in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Despite receiving much acclaim for her artistic abilities in Russia, she had a strong, lifelong desire to live in the United States. In 1989, she came to the United States for a visit while her painting, “The Subway Car” was on exhibit in New York City and defected from Russia at that time. She taught art at the University of Utah for a few years and currently paints full time from her homes in Utah and Washington, DC. She is known for figurative art, portraiture, landscapes, still life and murals.
