After studying engineering and industrial design, and more than 20 years spent working in the automotive industry, Eric Vanel discovers sculpture on the beginning of his forties. A few years later, after having learned from several professional sculptors, this art takes a major dimension in his life.
His work is rooted in his fascination for the language of the human body, the face, in the emotions that a pose or a gaze can produce. In each of his artworks, he seeks to build, to tell a story that uses this language, to create an attitude.
In his compositions, balance is fundamental. But as well the unbalance. As a contemporary figurative sculptor, he tries to keep his freedom by respecting academic codes, but without being bound to them, shaping his own path in artistic creation.
