Chelsie Nicole Murfee is an award-winning figurative artist. Her work has been recognized by the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art, the European Museum of Modern Art (MEAM), Strokes of Genius publications, and The Artist Magazine.
Born with a creative spirit and a passion for the arts, Chelsie’s exploration of drawing began at an early age. She considers herself primarily a self-taught artist, as her formal education held little appreciation for realism and offered limited instruction of traditional skills. However, Chelsie has had the privilege of studying under leading contemporary masters in recent years and is genuinely grateful for their mentorship and encouragement.
Her work is a gentle hybrid of drawing and painting, resulting from meticulous layering and delicate blending of ink, graphite, or charcoal. Through painstaking layering, Chelsie strives to create drawings that capture the spirit of the moment without altering the narrative. Her work does not stage or pose models; instead, it attempts to document life as it naturally unfolds. Though the work is not trying to generate a new narrative, the drawings somehow allude to deeper truths.
