Changsheng Xu was born in Hunan Province, China, in 1965. He graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Hunan Normal University in 1987, and in 2013, graduated from Central South University of Forestry and Technology with a master's degree in the field of folk woodcarving art.
He is a member of the Chinese Artists Association, a member of the Hunan Artists Association, a member of the Watercolor Art Committee of the Guangxi Artists Association, and the vice-chairman of the Guangxi Watercolor Artists Association. He has been teaching art and watercolor painting for 33 years and is a professor at Nanning Normal University.
His watercolor painting theme pays more attention to traditional Chinese folklore and artisans, showing the Chinese countryside's colorful life scenes. His watercolors have been nominated and awarded in various watercolor exhibitions, including the American Art Awards' best of show, and many of his works are in private or institutional collections.
