Oriane Meurant

France

My name is Oriane Meurant. I became a french sculptor after leaving the engineering world where I first started.

My passion is drawing, sculpting and i adore the complexity and beauty of human bodies.

I began to sculpt when I was teenager.

-First on my own and then taking drawing and sculpture classes at the Beaux-Arts School in my hometown, Rouen.

-Then I continued to learn with artists like Luc Tiburs & Sophie Gratia from France, Rainer Sheer from Germany.

At the age of 27, I took the decision to become a professional.

- As I am very interested by ceramic, metal and glass works, I attended classes "sculpture oriented" in forging, ironwork and ceramics at the Atelier des Arts Céramiques in France.

- I continued to deepen my kowledge and technical skills in anatomy and sculpture by following 3 years of Drawing and Sculpture Program training at the Barcelona Academy of Art.

I became the studio assistant during a year and a half where I gave workshops about how to recycle clay.

- After graduating from Barcelona Academy of Art in july 2021, I had the great opportunity to work on an important commission project with Silvia Juez Linares (director of sculpture program at the Barcelona Academy of Art).

I first asisted her and I was asked to continue by myself. I finalized during the next couple of months a 4 meters statue.

I began my career having some of my artworks exposed in galleries and events such as: the "Misnoma" exhibition in the Mutuo gallery, "Asomate" exhibition in the Punt de Vistes gallery,  "Figurative 2021" exhibition in the Museo Europeo de Arte Moderno (MEAM), all in Barcelona (Spain).

In spring 2023, I will be joining the artist Benjamin Victor in his studio in Boise (United States).

I am fullfilled to be a sculptor and today I know that all my efforts were worth it as this is my life passion and mission.
