My purpose in painting is to capture, celebrate, and honor the beauty of reality as I see it before me. In doing so, I move into a state of appreciation and gratitude for the present moment. In the process of painting trompe l'oeil, if I can suspend, even for a second, the perception of reality for the viewer, then they too move into the present moment and are temporarily liberated from conditioned existence.
