A Cup of Tea by Susan Paterson

I had received the ostrich feathers as a gift and couldn't wait to paint them, but for two years I couldn't come up with a satisfactory composition. Then I was given the coffee/tea pot and I knew right away they would fit together beautifully. I love working with the subtle variations in an almost monochromatic arrangement and bringing out the details and textures of the feathers, lace and antique pieces. A cup of tea, to me, is a break, a chance to slow down and enjoy the warmth and simple pleasure of a steaming cup of tea.  The last two years have been tough and I learned to appreciate the little things, the simple pleasures, and the importance of taking a break from the stresses of life.
