Zuleikha is depicted in a seductive stance as she leans forward, and invites the viewer into the composition. As the viewer’s eye moves upward along the lines of her clinging, sheer drapery we are confronted with Zuleikha’s piercing stare. Her eyes gaze boldly back at the viewer, with a shameless, and slightly haughty air; as if she is daring the viewer to look back. As we move along the lines of her lithe arms and past her breasts, our eye is carried along drapery arranged on the pillar that she leans on. The drapery brings us back into the composition, and up her long, languid legs towards her gaze once again. The sculpture was designed to lure in the viewer, as our eyes follow the flowing lines of the golden mean. The carefully crafted drapery enhances the aesthetic and reinforces the concept of the story of the epic seductress.
