This is a small scale plaster maquette for a larger piece. Conceived to stand on an empty plinth in front of City Hall in Dublin, Ireland's capital, it is an allegorical figure of Watchfullness or Scrutiny, subduing a figure of Folly. It is meant to be symbolic of integrity in public office, and was covceived as a counterpoint to the motto of Dublin City 'Obedientia Civium Urbis Felicitas'.
