“Melancholia” was originally made with a live model in clay. The work aims to materialize the feeling of emptiness that we feel when we let ourselves be carried away by melancholy, a universal theme, intrinsic to the human condition. The lost gaze of the subject and the purple and black pigments allude to this feeling that overwhelms us and can trap us in darkness and despair.
