In 2020 I was supposed to start my AdA apprenticeship program, but Covid intervened. When it became clear that this would take some time, I accepted a request to make a large Lotus painting.

A painting of this magnitude needs an undisturbed stretch of time and that was given to me by the circumstances. I had time to fully dive into the Eagerly Growing Lotus. The lotus pond is located 30 km away from my studio. I return every year to admire its prodigious vigor. The mighty towering leaf stems form a forest of a mysterious nature. The leaves look away from me and grow eagerly towards the light.

With the sketches and photos I do on the spot, I make the composition in the studio. From September 2020 to April 2021 I worked on the painting full time. I don't know how I did it.
