Kathleen Carr received her BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art. While pursuing her degree, she spent a semester in Florence, Italy at Studio Art Centers International.

The artist’s technique was refined through post-graduate study in classical painting techniques with Robert Liberace (Art Student's League), Scott Waddell (Grand Central Atelier), Dan Thompson (Studio Incamminati) and The Schuler School of Fine Art.

Her work has been recognized by The Portrait Society of America, The National Portrait Gallery UK (BP Award Finalist 2017), The Art Renewal Center Salon 2016 & 2017, The Salmagundi Club NYC,
(First Prize/Joseph Hartley Award for Oil Painting), Allied Artists of America 105th Annual Show, The Sedona Art Prize (Best in Show & Two Time
Finalist), The Artist's Magazine, PoetsArtists, Circle Arts Foundation, among others.

She has shown most notably at RJD Gallery, The Salmagundi Club, & Arlington National Cemetery as well as other group shows.

Prior to focusing on painting, Kathleen worked for many years in big media as a Graphic Designer and Illlustrator for such companies as The Washington Post and National Geographic. Her design and illustration work has been been recognized by Communication Arts, Adobe, Apple, QuickTime, Dynamic Graphics, and Step Inside Design Magazine.


She also served as Program Head of the Digital Media Design Department at the Corcoran College of
Art & Design, where she also taught design & illustration courses in their under graduate program.

She focus most of her time recently on realist painting.
