I was born in Ukraine and moved to the United States in the late 90's to study for a Master of Business Administration degree at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH. After graduation, my career in healthcare business and entrepreneurship took me all over the United States and the world. Throughout my working life I always had a deep appreciation for fine representational art which I believe is the foundation of humanity. I do not have a formal education in art, however in the past few years I was able to carve out more time for my love of art and to pursue a more rigorous course of learning. Since 2016 I have been studying figure and portrait drawing and painting with Steve Carpenter at the Steve Carpenter Art Center in Rochester NY. In addition, I studied Russian academic figure drawing and painting with Sergei Chubirko at the Academy of Russian Art in Florence, Italy. I am inspired by the Russian school of painting as it is based on a rigorous academic foundation which has been taught in the same way without interruption for over 300 years. I am committed to the lifelong learning that is necessary to achieve both the precision and freedom of this style of painting. I believe that there is only one level of mastery in art - that of a student. I currently live in Rochester NY.
