This work is in the Collection of the Art Renewal Center.

This painting was part of our group exhibition titled The Modern Muse in Rehs Contemporary gallery in New York. In the exhibition, we gave our thoughts on what role the muse plays in our process and what other factors influence our work. The life partners of many of us artists definitely give us inspiration and meaning throughout the journey of our art careers. I have observed that in the lives of artists such as Salvador Dali, Gala Dali, Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo or even with our local artists such as Juan Luna and Maria de la Paz Pardo de Tavera , they have stories of love and horror. No doubt, our life partners are a muse and reason of inspiration in our art. One thing I also considered as influences and inspiration on my artworks is seeing the actual masterpieces that I adore . It is almost like seduction that catches my attention when I see other works that I admire. They give me a different energy and motivation in my art.

In this artwork "Tempest", it is a combination of factors that I consider to be the inspiration. A portrait of my wife and the masterpieces in museums. They are both my inspiration and influence. The paintings hanging on the wall are works by Filipino masters displayed in the National Museums in the Philippines. The wall and paintings swept by the wind symbolize the energy that we absorb seeing these great works of art.
